FREE International English Language Contest “SmartTest”

Dear colleagues and students!

We invite you to take part in our first International English Language Contest “SmartTest” held from 8 February to 7 April 2013. The contest is organised by Regional Center of Culture and Education “Smart” supported by the Ministry of Education of the Ulyanovsk Region. The assignments for the test are provided by McMillan, international publishing house.

SmartTest Participants:

International English Language Contest “SmartTest” is organized for schoolchildren in four different age groups: 10-11 years old, 12-13 years old, 14-15 years old, 16-17 years old. Schoolchildren from Ulyanovsk and the Ulyanovsk Region, as well as other cities of the Russian Federation and other countries are welcome to participate in the contest.

SmartTest Schedule:

Registration of the participants – from 10 December 2012 to 8 February 2013.

SmartTest Contest (all parts) – from 20 February to 7 April 2013.

Smart Winners will get:

The winners will receive SmartTest certificates, signed by representatives of the organizing companies.

The teachers of SmartTest finalists will receive SmartTest thank you letters signed by the Minister of Education of the Ulyanovsk Region.

All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation in the First International English Contest «SmartTest», signed by representatives of the organizing companies. The world rating of the results will be available for each age group.

SmartTest Procedure

The assignments for the contest are provided by McMillan and are based on school educational programmes. Online tests are available for participants from other cities and countries (speaking is conducted via Skype)

Age: 10-11

A written test including the following parts: grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening.

Age: 12-13

Qualifying stage. A written test including the following parts: grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening.

Final stage. A written test consisting of two tasks: writing an informal letter and a quiz about English-speaking countries.

Age: 14-15

Part 1. A written test including the following parts: grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening.

Part 2. Writing: an informal letter.

Part 3. Final stage. Speaking: making a multimedia-based presentation on a given topic.

Age: 16-17

Part 1. A written test including the following parts: grammar, vocabulary, reading and listening.

Part 2. Writing: an informal letter and an essay.

Part 3. Final stage. Speaking: making a multimedia-based presentation on a given topic.
